Current Threats to Habitats
Oak trees = Acorns = food for wildlife, in our focus, Bears. Overdevelopment in Appalachia Georgia is taking out an unsustainable amount of Oak trees. This Modern Farmer article mirrors some of that information on a macro scale.
It is a true positive that they see the threat and are willing to do something about it. We at Appalachia Georgia Friends of the Bears will be reaching out to the White Oak Initiative.
